Data Holdings
NZSSDS's holdings include data sets from the New Zealand Election Study, three-yearly from 1990 to 2008, as well as various regional election/voting surveys from the 1970s and ’80s.
Available under the Health category are data from the Survey of Adult Oral Health, 1976; the New Zealand Partner Relations Survey, 1991; the Waikato Medical Care Survey (WaiMedCa), 1991; the New Zealand Quality of Healthcare Study (NZQHS), 1998; and the National Primary Medical Care Survey (NatMedCa), 2001/2.
Data from the World Internet Project for New Zealand have been deposited with NZSSDS for both the 2007 and 2009 surveys.
Data sets from the International Social Survey Programme are also available, for the surveys conducted in New Zealand, 1991-2009.
Three data sets from our holdings have now been used in the creation of resources specifically for use in teaching. We have had written guidebooks for statistical analysis in SPSS, of reduced 'teaching data sets' from these surveys. The guidebooks are available in inline html here, and in hard copy on request to compass [at] compass [dot] auckland [dot] ac [dot] nz, and it is intended for more guidebooks and data sets to be produced as resources allow.
For all of our data holdings, metadata and variable summaries are freely viewable; more in-depth online analysis and data set downloads require registration with NZSSDS and the filling out of forms. See Accessing Data for more information.
Metadata reporting in NZSSDS uses a reduced set of fields based on the Data Documentation Initiative version 2 system (DDI 2.0, built into the Nesstar software package).
